What comes next?

We had a chat

Once we’d digested the fact of my losing my job, we had a discussion about where we are financially and what we can and can’t do.

We’re better off than most, I know. No debts apart from a few years of mortgage to go. Mrs S is great with finance, having worked in a bank and currently studying to become an accountant.

However, we do have two children, one at home and another at uni. And a trip to Australia booked. So we will need money. Options.

1. Get another job (ideal if tricky)

2. Start a business (doing what?)

3. Retire (can’t afford to)

4. Find work from home stuff (such as?)

Staying positive is key. Mel will be spirit animal for now.

Look to the future! Be positive!

  • Whisky chemistry
I don’t think of myself as a whisky aficionado or expert in any way. As far as I’m concerned, I know what sort of whisky I like but I don’t… Read more: Whisky chemistry
  • Latest speech
I’ve performed on stage several times, though not for many years. Last time was in 1988, I think, when I was at 6th Form and in the Drama club. Giving… Read more: Latest speech
